No Dhoom without Uday and me: Abhishek

Dhoom 3, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, is expected to roll in January 2012. And Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will face the camera first. “It will be fun to shoot with Uday again. He is a childhood friend. Working together takes the relationship forward and when it comes to this franchise, we’re a little superstitious about it starting with ACP Jai Dixit and Ali Akbar Fateh Khan. They have become iconic characters. There will be no Dhoom without them,” asserts Abhishek.

As Jai, he decimated Kabir (John Abraham) and his biker gang in Dhoom and got even with Mr A (Hrithik Roshan) and Sunheri (Aishwarya Rai) in the sequel. In part three, the savvy inspector takes on another super-thief, played by Aamir Khan. Buzz is that Aamir is learning ballet and that his acrobatic acts will surpass Hrithik’s diving stunts and John’s biking thrills.

Abhishek is amused. “No, Aamir isn’t playing a ballet dancer,” he laughs, but refuses to divulge details about any of the characters, new or old. All he will say is that Dhoom 3 takes forward the story of a cop chasing a robber in the Hindi potboiler format and has plenty of laughs and mind-boggling action.

Reportedly Aamir has pushed the shooting dates because he wants to get into shape. On the other hand, Abhishek has already been working out for Rohit Shetty’s Bol Bachchan and is looking many kilos lighter. “I have to be in prime condition to carry off the stunts,” he says, adding that he doesn’t usually use doubles. “Even for Abbas-Mustan’s Players that will be the first release of 2012 (scheduled to open on January 6), I did all the action sequences myself, including swinging between two running trains in Siberia.”

While John and Hrithik were in his age group, Aamir is a senior and Abhishek admits his equation with this chor (thief) will be different. “I don’t expect to be on back-slapping terms with Aamir but from the little interaction we’ve had, he appears to be a team player and makes work fun. I’m looking forward to sharing screen space and learning lots from him,” he smiles.

Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 coming in 2013

The much awaited release of Dhoom:3 has now been shifted to 2013 in view of production and post-production work that needs to be completed.

“While the shoot begins from end-November 2011, we anticipate a demanding 10 to 11 months of intense shooting with concurrent post-production, which will stretch beyond. This will probably be cutting it too fine for a Christmas 2012 release,” says a statement from the makers.

Produced by Aditya Chopra, Dhoom:3 will be written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, who has written Dhoom 1 and 2. He has also written and directed Tashan. Both Aditya and Victor in consultation with Aamir, have decided to delay the release of the film to 2013.

Says Victor, “Dhoom:3 is very dear to all of us as well as to its audience who expect only the best from the franchise. While the shooting will finish in time, we expect the post-production to take much longer. We are trying our best to give one of the finest cinematic experiences to our discerning audience and therefore did not want to compromise the quality of the film just to meet the release date.”

Both Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue in their now iconic roles of Jai Dixit and Ali in the series. Though the makers are tight-lipped about the diva in the movie, buzz is strong that Katrina Kaif has been finalised for the same.

Katrina Kaif turns singer for Dhoom 3

Katrina Kaif's dream of taking her mother, brother and sisters on a long vacation has to be put on hold for the time being.

After completing the current schedule of Ek Tha Tiger in Dublin, the actress will have to start preparing for her character in Dhoom 3 in the month that she had kept aside for her family holiday.

According to sources, Katrina has received an urgent return-to-duty call from Yashraj Films to not just learn some heavy-duty stunts but also exercise her vocal cords for her role in the sequel to Dhoom.

The actress will need to undertake para gliding lessons and a full-fledged singing course for the project. "Katrina has to go one up on the last Dhoom heroine Aishwarya Rai. That's a tall order in itself," informed a source.

Katrina, who had been planning to sing for Ali Zaqfar's album has yet been uninitiated into the realm of music. This will be the first time Katrina will sing for herself in a film.

Apart from the singing, Katrina it seems has a lot of pending work for the same film. She will need to discuss with Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya about the look, body language, spoken language and attitude of her character in the project.

In fact, the singing portions of her character are now being worked out, waiting for Katrina to come down and lend her voice. Katrina remained unavailable for comment.

Katrina's no-bikini clause accepted

Katrina Kaif has agreed to be the part of Aditya Chopra's Dhoom 3, but only on one condition. The actor has made it clear to the director that she won't sport a bikini in the YRF movie opposite Aamir Khan.

Looks like Doom would be Katrina's first and last movie in which she donned a two piece.

But the Chopra scion didn't relent to the actor's demand so easily.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “Aditya is very fond of Katrina and they are very good friends. He had other options, including a few foreign actresses, but Katrina towered above all those options. Katrina managed to convince Aditya that it was not necessary for her to wear a bikini in the film.”

And why not! Katrina has come a long way since her debut disaster Boom.
