Bollywood Katrina Kaif to romance Rajinikanth?

Katrina Kaif will soon join ranks with Aishwarya and Deepika by romancing Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth on screen. The actor is said to have said yes for Kochadaiyaan.

"It's true. We were very keen on Katrina. Two superstars together from the South and the North would create magic," a very important member of the film's production team revealed to Mumbai Mirror.

"We've been negotiating with her for some time. She is shooting for Yash Chopra, and has assured us of her dates in the next few months," the source was quoted by the tabloid as saying.

"Yes, we are indeed in talks with Katrina and we will let you know soon," confirmed Soundarya to the daily.

Tackling the date trouble

Though it was not easy for Katrina to make space in her date diary, she managed to take out time for Rajini in between her tight schedule for Ek Tha Tiger and SRK's film.

"Katrina, who is busy shooting two back-to-back Yash Raj films - Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan, and an untitled one with Shah Rukh Khan - will accommodate Rajinikanth's dates in between her tight schedule. All other portions of the film have been shot, and only the ones with Katrina remain. Her dates will be worked out soon, and the film will then be complete," a member of the unit told the tabloid.

About Kochadaiyaan

"In Kochadaiyaan, Rajinikanth plays a king, a devotee of Lord Shiva. His love story with Katrina, their songs, will be shot on an epic scale," disclosed a source to the daily.

The film will also have a love song between Rajini and Kat. "Rahman is bringing 130 musicians from Germany to record the background score," the source further revealed.

Rajini’s fans up in arms against Madame Tussauds

By his next birthday, South star Rajinikanth might have his own wax statue at Madame Tussauds.

It’s been a long pending demand from his fans. With Madame Tussauds still silent on the matter, a 63,000-member fanclub of Rajinikanth kicked off an online campaign demanding that a statue be put into place immediately. Considering that the number of fans of the South superstar runs close to a billion worldwide, Madame Tussauds apparently is feeling the heat.

“Everybody is aware of the protests that started yesterday on December 12 (also Rajini’s birthday). And from the information I’ve got,Madame Tussauds have also principally agreed to put into a place a statue of the South star,” says a source close to actor-singer Dhanush, Rajinikanth’s son-in-law. The online campaign started by the fanclub includes chain mails and a signature campaign to include star’s statue at the wax museum.

Several South Indian and Bollywood stars have apparently contacted to take part in the online campaign.

“There is hardly any actor — in Bollywood or the South industry— who’s not a fan of Rajini Sir. I am sure they won’t be able to ignore when Rajini’sfans turn out in such force to include his statue in the museum,” adds the source.

A source close to Madame Tussauds officials said that the authorities are aware of the demand and might make an announcement soon.

Happy birthday Rajinikanth

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is celebrating his 62nd birthday on Monday. Known lovingly as thalaivar among fans, Rajinikanth was honoured with the Padma Bhushan Award in the year 2000 and has at least 150 movies to his credit as an actor.

Famous for his style statements, his fans want to celebrate December 12 as World Style Day. It all started when a month ago, a fan proposed this idea on the wall of a Rajinikanth fan page on Facebook. "We should celebrate Thalaivar's birthday as World Style Day," said the post.

The actor has been keeping a low profile after he had health problems and underwent medical treatment for few months this year. Waiting to start work on his next movie, Rana, Rajinikanth was suggested by the doctors to take it easy for some time.

The work for the film, which was supposed to hit the floors in December 2011, is now likely to start in early February next year.

After his 2010 science fiction film Enthiran (Robot), a superhit at the box office, Rajinikanth was last seen in Shah Rukh Khan's Ra.One in a cameo.

SRK interacts with Bangalore fans in Kannada

Shah Rukh Khan knows his marketing tricks well -- and he proved it when he greeted and interacted with his fans here in Kannada, drawing a huge approving roar.

The 45-year-old, on a multi-city promotional tour, was in the Silicon City Sunday.

He spoke in Kannada much to the delight of his fans. Shah Rukh started his speech by greeting his fans with a "Namaskaara"!

He used Kannada words and phrases like "Bengaluru Chennagidhe" (Bangalore is a beautiful city), "Oota Aayitha?" (Had your lunch?) and "Chennagidhdheera" (How are you, are you okay?).

The actor went down the memory lane, recalling the few days that he spent in Bangalore as a child. He said he had always had fond memories of the city.

Though he didn't speak much about the film, he entertained the public by grooving to the catchy tunes of its song "Chammak challo".

Shah Rukh told journalists about the special appearance of Rajinikanth in the film.

He said Rajinikanth will play the role of Chitti - the same character that he played in the Shankar-directed Tamil film " Endhiran".

Shah Rukh also talked about the cameos by Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra.

"I wanted both Khalnayak and Desi Girl to be part of my film. That is why they are part of the film," he said.

There was a lot of frenzy among his fans when Shah Rukh threw the audio CD album at the Royal Meenakshi Mall at the Bannerghatta Road.

The superstar, who plays a super hero in the mega-budget "RA.One", presented mementoes to some of his fans during the promotional event for the movie, releasing this Diwali, Oct 26.

Hundreds of starry-eyed fans cheered for the actor outside the mall, and waited for him with welcome banners. Some even stood with vinyl banners of his film.

Shah Rukh got on to the roof the car to greet his fans. Some teenage fans kissed him after receiving mementoes from him.

A few fans, who got special passes for the event, danced with Shah Rukh.

"RA.One" also features Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

'The best special effects of Ra.One happened at Mannat'

In the first part of this interesting conversation with Anubhav Sinha, the director spoke about directing two superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Rajnikanth.

In this part, Sinha tells Sonil Dedhia how he first met SRK in New Delhi when they were trying to make it big in showbiz. He gives some closer details about SRK, and also talks about the toughest part of shooting Ra.One.

Reports suggest Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani directed a portion of Ra.One. Is that true?

Karan Johar directed for a day and a half but Tarun Mansukhani did not direct anything. Tarun did come on the sets for one schedule and I don't want to speak about why was he there. He is a very dear friend of mine and I respect him and his work.

Why did Karan come on board?

It was on my insistence Karan directed the part. Ra.One was shot for 160 days. We were shooting in London and for some logistical reason the shoot had to be extended. We didn't want to cancel it. Initially, Shah Rukh and I had decided to do the shot breakdown on paper and he would shoot in London and I would juggle between the two locations. But we realised that would not be wise.

I asked Shah Rukh if Karan could shoot the two- day schedule and he was gracious enough to do it.

So was Shah Rukh Khan going to direct a part of Ra.One?

Not really direct a part of the film. As I said earlier, I would do the shot division and he would execute it and okay the shot.

Rajinikanth shoots his 'Ra.One' cameo

Even though his doctors and relatives have asked him to stay off work till November, the superstar is flying down to Mumbai to film his cameo for Ra.One.

After Southern superstar Rajinikanth fell ill earlier this year, and was hospitalised for weeks, his doctors and family members had barred him from resuming work till the end of November.

But sources tell us that Rajinikanth in fact, is going to be in Mumbai to shoot a cameo for Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film, Ra.One.

It looks like this will be his only appearance in front of a camera until he resumes shooting for Rana towards the end of November.

According to sources, Rajinikanth decided to disregard concerns over his health when Khan made a call to him, requesting that Rajini help him wrap up the remainder of the shooting.

Instead, of filming the sequence in Hyderabad, as had earlier been agreed on, it will now be shot at producer-director Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods Studio. The source said, "The earlier plan was to shoot at Ramoji Rao studio in Hyderabad on October 4. But Rajini sir thought Gandhi Jayanti would be a more appropriate date to resume work. He thought shooting in Mumbai made more sense since the film is in Hindi."

When reminded of the long duration of the flight from Chennai to Mumbai, Rajinikanth is said to have quipped that flying to Mumbai would be as easy or difficult as getting to Hyderabad. "The Ra.One team thought shooting at Whistling Woods was safer, since Ghai is an old friend of Shah Rukh's and would ensure the shoot went off smoothly," said the source.

In order that the actor undergoes minimum strain, his shot is going to be wrapped up in a couple of hours.

These scenes will later be digitally transferred onto scenes in the film, against a backdrop of other characters and ambience.

But the actor's family continues to claim that he will stay away from shooting till November. When contacted, his daughter Aishwarya said her father was not shooting for Ra.One.

The Ra.One team is tight-lipped about Rajinikanth's visit but sound designer for the film, Resul Pookutty admitted that the actor will shoot for the film today. "I am excited that Rajini sir will be part of Ra.One. The thought of seeing both superstars (Rajinikanth and Khan) come together in one frame is exciting."

Ghai confirmed that Rajinikanth would be shooting today. However, according to a source in Chennai who is associated with the film Rana, not everyone is happy with the new development. "We are not in favour of Rajini flying down to shoot in Mumbai. But he won't listen. We will resume work on Rana only when we are absolutely sure he is up to it. We can't take any risk with his health," the source said.

Rajini flies to Mumbai on SRK’s request!

Shah Rukh Khan will undoubtedly be the happiest man on earth today as Tamil superstar Rajinikanth will reportedly be in Mumbai to shoot for `RA.One`.

Yesterday we had the news of Rajini’s Chitti avatar appearing in SRK’s Diwali release and that Shah Rukh was planning to send the portions of Rajini’s role shot with a duplicate to the superstar’s family so that they could shoot the veteran actor’s close up.

But the latest news is that Rajini decided to fly down to Mumbai despite being advised by the doctors and his family to keep away from work at least till November. The Tamil actor will be shooting at Subash Ghai’s Whistling Woods Studio in Mumbai.

Talking to a tabloid, a source revealed, "The earlier plan was to shoot at Ramoji Rao studio in Hyderabad on October 4. But Rajni sir thought Gandhi Jayanti would be a more appropriate date to resume work. He thought shooting in Mumbai made more sense since the film is in Hindi."

"The `RA.One` team thought shooting at Whistling Woods was safer, since Ghai is an old friend of Shah Rukh`s and would ensure the shoot went off smoothly," added the source.

However, Rajini’s daughter Aishwarya refuted the news and said that her father wasn’t shooting for `RA.One`.

Even the `RA.One` team is keeping mum on this issue but Oscar Award winner sound designer Resul Pookutty has indeed confirmed Rajini’s visit. He said, "I am excited that Rajni sir will be part of Ra.One. The thought of seeing both superstars (Rajnikanth and Khan) come together in one frame is exciting."

Rajini to make a cameo in SRK's 'Ra.One'!

It looks like although Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Rana' will go on floors only by October, we'll get to see him this Diwali! Grapevine is abuzz that Rajini will play a cameo in Shahrukh Khan's 'Ra.One', a superhero film which will also see a release in Tamil and Telugu.

Fans are enthralled as Superstar, a legend in Indian cinema is coming together with the Badshah of Bollywood. Earlier SRK had revealed that his movie will be a tribute to Superstar Rajinikanth. Now latest update from the movie's front is that the team has planned to add a scene where Rajini will be seen in a cameo.

Talks are on that the shooting will take place in early October in Ramoji studios in Hyderabad.

This scene which marks a tribute to Rajini will have SRK fighting a gang of baddies who have deadly weapons. At this point, Rajini enters the scene in his signature style in a super-powered car and takes away all the weapons from the goons. When Shahrukh asks Kareena of the man's identity, Rajini here breaks into a popular punch dialogue of his from 'Bhasha'.

New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth has agreed to do a cameo role in Shah Rukh Khan's much awaited film 'Ra.One'. If media reports are to be believed than Rajinikanth is going to shoot for the film on October 4, at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad.

The music of 'Ra.One' is already released and catching up fast with the audiences. International pop singer Akon has sung for the first time in any Indian film in 'Ra.One'.

'Ra.One' relies heavily on its big star cast that boasts of Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra. Now, superstar Rajinikanth's inclusion into the credit list will only add more charm to it.

This will be a double bonanza for Hindi film lovers, who will get to watch two superstars working together for the first time.

Shah Rukh Khan had earlier said that 'Ra.One' has a tribute for Rajinikanth.

This will also indicate the return of Rajinikanth to shooting, who has avoided shooting in recent times due to bad health.

The promos of 'Ra.One' shows a lot of similarities in between Rajinikanth's 'Robot' and Khan's 'Ra.One'.
