Amitabh overwhelmed with letter from Dilip Kumar

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is overjoyed after receiving praise from thespian Dilip Kumar and says he no longer needs any other endorsements after receiving such appreciation from the man who has been his inspiration.

"There are actors and there are actors and there is Dilip Kumar, Dilip Saheb, Yusuf Khan! From the moment I saw him in a film, I knew he was the ultimate inspiration for me. Today( Wednesday) he posts a generous comment on me on his Twitter account, and I have nothing more to say but this -- I do not care for any comment from any critic, colleague," the 69-year-old posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

"I do not care for any opinion from anyone. This below is the the most endearing and lasting endorsement that any actor could receive. I feel today after 42 years in the Industry, that there is a fulfilment of thought and value. Nothing greater could have been asked for, nor received. I believed in a man who to me represented the ultimate. He was he is and he shall always be, The Dilip Kumar," he further posted.

Dilip Kumar, 89, Wednesday sent an open letter to Big B appreciating his work and recalled a few of his powerful performances in the movies like "Black" and "Paa".

In the letter, Dilip Kumar wrote: "With tears of pride in her eyes Saira handed over the print out of your (Big B) eloquent tribute to my work (Dilip Kumar) in your blog. I read it once, then again and again...

"...I am certainly privileged to know from your affectionate compliments that someone as knowledgeable and competent as you has liked my work. Yes, now that you have reminded me, I can recall the scenes that brought us together before the cameras for 'Shakti'. I should say the respect and admiration are mutual. Not just 'Shakti', your work in several films I have watched has been world class and inimitable.

"In recent times, I can remember 'Black' and, if I remember right, Saira and I were at a loss for words at the premiere night, after the curtain came down, to express our myriad feelings of admiration for your outstanding performance. It is a pity the film missed the Oscar nomination. If any Indian actor, in my personal opinion, deserves the world's most coveted award, it is you. I have heard so much about 'Paa' which we didn't catch up with. You know how Saira is-she never could see me die in my films and she could not muster the courage to see your death scene in 'Paa'.

"Thank you, Amitabh, for your warm love and good wishes. May God keep you, Jaya and your family happy always."

Dhanush meets Amitabh Bachchan

Slowly yet significantly, Dhanush is climbing the ladder of success.

His movies continue to keep the ticket counters jingling and now his single from 3 — Why this kolaveri di has made him a national sensation in no time.

Such is his and his song’s popularity that B’wood stars have expressed their love for the song, first on the list being none other than Amitabh Bachchan. Rajinikanth’s son-in-law thanked the Big B in person when he went to meet the legend at his residence in Mumbai.

Dhanush’s humility had quite an impact on Senior B, who tweeted, “Dhanush! Of ‘why this Kolaveri di’ fame and star in his own right, visits the house to meet up. Simplicity in his demeanor!”

Dhanush, in no time reciprocated by saying, “Sr Bachchan, it was a pleasure and honour meeting you sir. I’m glad I received your blessings. Thank you ji.”

Amitabh: One never associated Dev Anand with death

Amitabh Bachchan, who's been visiting cities, fulfilling social and professional obligations, took some time out of his busy schedule to blog about Dev Anand's passing away.

He wrote: "One never associated him with death, it was always about life every time you saw him. It takes a while for us all to contend with the loss and there is a silence after the initial shock that follows."

The Big B then goes on to recount the days when he was one of the fans and would make discreet visits to the movie theatres to catch the latest Dev Anand film.

He adds, "His attitude and singular style in his performances, would get us out of our hostel beds in the middle of the night, jump the boundary walls of the college to the nearest film theatre repeatedly, just to witness the magic of his charm and energy. And on our way back we would sing along with his songs, his deliveries of dialogue and create this wonderful world he had structured for us to be remembered forever."

Bachchan also recounts his last meeting with the legend in his post, "I had last met him recently when he personally invited me for the premiere of his film. He was frail and weak, but still dressed in his inimitable style, young and modern and the strength of his attitude still with the same gusto. He signified something that was endless, a continuity which we all took as a given."

After KBC, it’s ABC for Amitabh: Poonam Pandey

Bachchan family welcomed their little angel on Wednesday when Aishwarya gave birth to a baby girl. Ever since the news was broken by the newly-blessed father Abhishek Bachchan on Twitter, the congratulatory messages haven’t stopped pouring in. And joining the celeb league is none other than the leggy lass Poonam Pandey, who always has a piece of mind to give to her Tweethearts!

Even the model with svelte figure and sensuous looks couldn’t curtail her excitement on the new entrant in the Bachchan family. She wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter, “Rishte me to ab yeh BAAP nahi DADA lagenge...naam wahi hai @SrBachchan (sic)”.

Further adding on, she tweeted, “after KBC amitabh will be seen teaching ABC @SrBachcan#babyb (sic)”.

Well, for a change the bombshell has something to say about another ‘girl’!

Amitabh Bachchan is the last ‘Shahenshah’ of Bollywood: Bal Thackeray

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray Saturday demanded that the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna, be conferred on Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan is the last ‘Shahenshah’ (emperor) of Bollywood. In many countries of the world, the people don’t know who is the president or prime minister of the country, but they know Bachchan,” Thackeray said in an editorial in the party mouthpiece Saamna.

“He is a real jewel of India who has brought laurels to the country…Bachchan truly deserves the Bharat Ratna,” Thackeray said. Praising various qualities of the megastar, he pointed out that some time ago, another Bharat Ratna, singer Lata Mangeshkar, had also suggested Bachchan’s name for the honour. Bachchan is “as deserving as Sachin Tendulkar for the Bharat Ratna,” but the central government and the Congress has ignored it in view of strained relations between the Bachchan and the Gandhi family, Thackeray said. Thackeray referred to the smear campaigns against Bachchan as recently someone used a fake Twitter account in the actor’s name, tweeting malicious statements against the Shahrukh Khan starrer RA.One. Actor Sayali Bhagat hurled allegations of misbehaviour at Bachchan, but she now denied it, the Shiv Sena chief said. “Who is this ‘Ravana’ behind these slander campaigns against a respected person like Bachchan? This should be probed,” Thackeray demanded, without naming anybody. Thackeray’s comments assume significance in view of the ongoing Maharashtrians versus north-Indians debate here that has been kicked off by city Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam. “We are not a burden on Mumbai,” the MP said October 24 adding, “If north Indians take a single day off, Mumbai will be practically paralysed.”
